City Board Appointed South Ward Alderman; Approved Budget

   The Board of Aldermen for the City of Shelbyville met in regular session, Monday, December 2 at the Shelbyville City Office. Guests at the meeting were Jane Rushford, MECO Engineering and Troy Renner, Shelby County Economic Development Director. Mike Vanskike, Mayor, called the meeting to order.
   Rushford stated that she didn’t have anything new to tell the board about the lagoon process. She stated, “It is my ball field now because I have not responded back to rural development.” She stated that she anticipates getting that done before the next meeting and will hopefully have more to report in January.
   Renner reported to the board that the next Shelby County Economic Development meeting will be Thursday, December 5 and that the main focus of the meeting will be the nomination and appointment of new board members. He reported that the Shelby County Commission appointed Dan Uhlmeyer, Leonard, to fill the vacancy left by Laden Force on the board. They are still looking for four board members to fill the other vacancies on the board. He was wondering if Shelbyville had found someone to represent the City.

Christmas In Bethel

Sunday, December 8, 2013 -- 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
   Historic Bethel German Colony will hold its annual Christmas in Bethel Festival on Sunday, December 8. This warm-hearted toast to German Christmas traditions is fun for children and adults alike. Admission is free.
   Be sure to visit the Colony Gift Shop, the Country Store (located in the Legion Hall), the Quilting Post, SJ Pottery, Quilts by Terri, and the mini mall located in the colony buildings along Main street for handmade Christmas gifts produced by local artisans. Booths will be open at 11:00am.
   The Colony Fest Hall will be offering the home cooked traditional Smorgasbord with Christmas cookies and drinking custard included in the very reasonable meal price. Serving begins at 11:00 a.m. For a small fee cookies and custard will be available separately. Following the Official Lighting of Bethel, soup and sandwiches will be served in the Fest Hall at a reasonable cost. Judging Christmas Lights in Shelbyville

Shelbyville homeowners are advised that the out of town judges will make their visit on Wednesday, December 18th. Everyone will want to be sure their lights are turned on that evening so that the judges do not miss their display.
   Prizes of $50, $30, and $20 will be given to the winners.

Miles Richard Mann

Andrew and Kathy Mann, Ashville, OH, would like to announce the arrival of their first child. Miles Richard Mann was born November 16, 2013 at 11:14 a.m., weighing 7 lb. 5 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long.
   Paternal grandparents are Richard and Susan Mann, Leonard and the late Gloria Mann. Paternal great-grandparents are Russell and Norma Miles, Leonard, the late Les and Ivy Mann, formerly of Leonard and Faye Lund, Bethel.
   Maternal grandparents are Randy and Cindy Henwood, Lancaster, OH. Maternal great-grandparents are Richard and Geraldine Flowers, Lancaster, OH and the late Ralph and Rita Henwood.

Aizlynn Case Million

Trey and Caroline Million, Shelbyville, are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Aizlynn Case. She was born November 25, 2013 at 1:46 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. and was 22 inches long.
   Her grandparents are Gene and Heather Boyles, Shelbyville and Mike and April Petterson, Shelbyville and the late Robert Million.
