Macon Police Department News Releases, 18 March 2015:

On 03/06/15 at approximately 10:45pm, police made enforcement contact with a vehicle in the area of Briggs Dr. and Missouri St. As a result of the contact, police arrested both a 17-year old male of Macon and a 20-year old female of Clarence for minor in possession of alcohol. Both suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and were later released pending a municipal court date. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year old female, was summonsed for equipment violation and was also released pending a municipal court date.

On 03/07/15, officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of Hopper court. Upon arrival, police spoke with residents of the home and determined one individual had thoughts of causing harm to himself/herself. The individual was taken into protective custody for mental health evaluation. No criminal arrests were made in this incident.

On 3/11/15, officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a suicidal individual in the 800 block of Spruce Street. Police determined the subject may require medical attention and emergency medical services were dispatched as well. Upon arrival, police secured the scene and EMS arrived to assist. No arrests were made as a result of this incident.

On 03/12/15, Macon Police Officers responded to a report of a burglary occurring at a residence in the 600 block of Clay Street. The victim reported returning to the residence to find damage to an exterior door, damage to property within the residence and several items missing. Stolen items include a gaming system and other items. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 3/13/15, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department their Missouri issued license plates were stolen from their vehicle while it was parked unattended in the 500 block of Broadway Street. The victim reported the plates were taken sometime between 02/11/15 and 03/13/15. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 03/13/15, officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1300 block of North Missouri Street. Upon arrival, police made contact several subjects in the area. During the investigation, it was determined that a male suspect assaulted a female victim while travelling in a vehicle in Macon County. As a result of the investigation, police arrested a 22-year old white male of Marceline (MO) for domestic assault. The suspect was processed at the Macon Police Department and was later released on summons pending a Division II Court date.

On 3/14/2015, officers of the Macon Police Department were notified of an active arrest warrant out of Shelby County on an individual believed to be in Macon. At the request of Shelbina Police Department, an officer responded to the 100 block of North Rubey Street. The suspect, Melinda S Tillitt, a 38-year old white female of Shelbina, was taken into custody without incident on four counts of Statutory Sodomy with $100,000 cash only bond. Tillitt was transferred to the custody of Shelbina Police Department for transport back to Shelby County where she was held in lieu of bond.

On 03/14/15 an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle resulting in arrest. Police arrested a 23-year old black male of Kirksville for driving while license suspended, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to register motor vehicle. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing. Police also discovered an active arrest warrant out of the City of Kirksville for failure to appear on original charge of minor in possession of alcohol. The suspect posted the required bond on the new violations and was then transported to the Macon County Jail to be held in lieu of $300 bond for the active warrant.

On 03/16/15 at approximately 10:44am, Macon Police Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 1200 block of North Missouri Street. It was reported a black male suspect had been verbally aggressive and threatening toward seven staff members of a local business. The black male suspect reportedly left the area on foot prior to officer arrival. Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect at Sheridan and Rubey Streets where he attempted to flee officers. The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation. Police located 3 active warrants out of the City of Macon for failure to appear on charges of 2 counts of no driver’s license and 1 count of failure to provide proof of insurance with bond of $393 cash only. As a result of the investigation, the 46-year old black male was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for James W Savage Sr, 46 of Macon, for peace disturbance and resisting arrest with bond being set at $5,000.00 cash only.

On 03/16/15, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department they were subject to identity theft and had been contacted by the IRS regarding the victim’s submission of tax forms. The IRS advised the victim their identity had been compromised. The victim had suffered no monetary loss, but was advised to report to local law enforcement. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 03/16/15, the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in the 600 block of Clay Street. Victim reported arriving at the residence to find damage to an exterior door of the residence. It was unknown at the time of call if any items were stolen from the property. The incident occurred between 03/12 – 03/16. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 03/16/15 an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle resulting in arrest. Police arrested a 33-year old white female of Macon for driving while license revoked. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 03/17/15 an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle resulting in arrest. Police arrested a 42-year old white male of Silver Springs (FL) for driving while suspended, failure to provide proof of insurance and improper vehicle registration. The suspect was found to have three active warrants out of the State of Florida with full US extradition. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Macon Police Department for processing. The suspect was released on summons after posting the required bond in connection with the new violations and was then transported to the Macon County Jail to await extradition on the outstanding warrants from the State of Florida.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
