Macon Police Department News Releases, 09 April 2015:

On 03/07/2015, an officer of the Macon Police Department responded to the 800 block of Pine Street for a report of a dog being attacked by two other dogs.  Two parties were able to intervene and get the victim dog away from the other dogs.  The dogs were at large and left the area prior to officer arrival.  As a result of the attack, the victim dog died due to injuries sustained.  A short time later, the two dogs are large were located and taken to the Animal Control Shelter while the owner was identified and contacted.  As a result of the investigation, police issued summons on 03/10/2015 for dog at large to a 43-year old white male of Macon.  The male suspect is required to appear in municipal court on the charge.

On 03/23/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department arrested a 41-year old white male of Macon after enforcement contact was made with a vehicle in the area of Blees Industrial Drive.  The male suspect was arrested for driving while license revoked.  He was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later taken to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold.  Formal charges were later filed against Mark A Tipton for felony driving while license revoked with bond set at $15,000 cash only.

On 03/23/15, officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a peace disturbance in the 200 block of Jackson Street.  Upon arrival, police could hear people yelling from inside a residence in the area.  Upon attempting contact, two residents were contacted.  As police talked with the residents, one became very uncooperative as officers attempted to explain the peace disturbance complaint and physically resisted when officers attempted to take him into custody.  Police did arrest a 30-year old black male of Macon for peace disturbance and resisting arrest.  The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released pending a municipal court date.  The Macon Police Department was assisted at the scene by a Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy.

On 03/24/15, the Macon Police Department received a report of assault which occurred in the 800 block of Pearl Street.  The victim called from a safe location to report the incident.  Police responded to investigate.  As a result, police arrested an 18-year old white female of Macon for assault.  The female was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 03/27/15 at approximately 12:40am, an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle in the 1300 block of North Missouri Street.  As a result of the contact, police arrested a 47-year old white male of Shawnee (KS) for driving while intoxicated, driving while license revoked and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.  Police then discovered an active arrest warrant for the male suspect out of Jasper County (MO) with statewide extradition. The warrant   The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later taken to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges which were later filed against Ricky D Card for felony driving while intoxicated and felony driving while revoked.  The suspect’s bond was set at $4,500 cash only.  The Jasper County warrant had a bond of $1,500 cash or surety.

On 03/27/15, officers of the Macon Police Department executed an active arrest warrant upon Grace N Smith, a 23-year old white female of Macon.  Smith was located in the 700 block of North Missouri Street.  The warrant was issued through the City of Macon for failure to appear on traffic summons for failure to provide proof of insurance.  Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Macon Police Department for processing.  She later posted the required bond and was released.

On 03/27/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle at the intersection of Rutherford and Pace Streets.  As a result of the contact, police arrested a 23-year old white male of Macon for driving while license suspended and failure to stop at a stop sign.  The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 03/30/2015, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department a theft had occurred in the 800 block of Locust Street.  A Macon Police Officer responded to the call.  It was reported that while the victim was away from home, medication went missing.  The theft reportedly took place between 03/26 – 03/29.  This case is currently under investigation at this time.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Macon Police Department at 660-395-2195 or cal our Anonymous Tips Line at 660-395-1111.

On 03/30/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department assisted the Macon County Juvenile Office in serving an active warrant from the Division of Youth Services upon a 16-year old juvenile black male of Macon.  The juvenile suspect was located in the area of Rubey and Union Streets. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department and turned over to a Macon County Juvenile Officer for their handling.

On 04/02/15, officers of the Macon Police Department executed an active arrest warrant upon a female suspect in the 500 block of Jefferson Street.  Police arrested Candice M. Ward, 26-year old white female of Macon, for Macon County warrant issued for probation violation.  The female suspect was transported to the Macon County Jail where she was held in lieu of $25,000 bond.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
