Macon Police Department News Releases – June 11, 2015
As a result of a traffic stop on 05/30/2015, the Macon Police Department arrested a 24-year old white female of Louisiana (MO) on multiple charges. Police also recovered a stolen vehicle during the stop which was stolen from Ottumwa (IA) on 05/27/2015. The vehicle was impounded and later returned to the registered owner. The female suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Macon County Jail where she was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Melinda D COUCH for felony tampering with a motor vehicle, felony possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle without valid driver license. Bond was set at $10,500 cash only.
During a traffic stop on 05/31/2015, a Macon Police Officer arrested a 24-year old black male of Omaha (NE) for driving while license suspended and exceeding the posted speed limit. The male suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date after posting the required bond.
On 06/03/2015, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department a theft from their vehicle had occurred between 05/20 to 06/03/2015. The victim reported a Pioneer car stereo was removed from the victim’s vehicle. The stereo is valued at approximately $90.00. This case remains under investigation at this time.
On 06/04/2015, a Macon Police Officer arrested a male subject for driving while intoxicated after making contact during a traffic stop in the 1700 block of North Missouri Street. Police arrested a 35-year old white male of Macon for driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a stop sign. The suspect was transported to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
During a traffic stop on 06/05/2015, a Macon Police Officer arrested a 20-year old white female of Macon for driving without a valid license, vehicle registration violation and failure to provide proof of insurance. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
After investigating a report of a domestic assault on 06/06/2015 occurring in the 100 block of Vine Street, a Macon Police Officer arrested a 28-year old white male of Macon for domestic assault. He was processed at the Macon Police Department and later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
