Macon Police Department News Releases, September 10, 2015
On 08/28/2015, an employee of a business in the 100 block of North Rubey Street reported property damage occurred at the business caused by a passerby. The employee gave the officer a description of the suspect, who was last seen walking away from the area in a southerly direction. Upon locating the suspect a short distance away, the suspect admitted to causing damage. Police arrested the 32-year old black male and transported him to the Macon Police Department for processing. He was processed and later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
On 08/29/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department investigated a report of an adult male offering alcohol to minors in the 300 block of South Allen Street. As a result of the investigation, police arrested a 43-year old male of Macon for providing alcohol to minors. The male suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
On 08/29/15, a Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle in the area of the 100 block of North Rollins Street after witnessing the vehicle strike a road barricade. As a result of the contact, police arrested a 43-year old white male suspect of Clarence for driving while intoxicated and improper turn. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
On 09/01/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle at Missouri and Union Streets. As a result of the contact, police arrested an 18-year old white male of Moberly (MO) for failure to signal, failure to provide proof of insurance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child. A second subject, a19-year old white male of Huntsville (MO) was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and were later released on summons pending a municipal court date.
On 09/02/2015, a Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle in the area of Duff and Union Streets. As a result of the contact, police arrested a 45-year old white female of Hannibal (MO) for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to display headlamps and failure to provide proof of insurance. Police also arrested a 44-year old white male of Eldon (MO) for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department for processing. Both suspects were later released on summons pending a Division II court date.
On 09/04/2015, Macon Police Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of North Missouri Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with two female suspects in a verbal dispute. Officers determined there was no physical altercation while speaking with the subjects. No criminal charges were pursued and both subjects left the area without further issues.
On 09/05/15, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department a theft occurred on 09/04/15 from a business in the 700 block of Main Street. The victim stated they left items in a duffle bag inside a building of the business. Upon returning to pick up the items, the victim found them to be missing. The victim stated they had an unknown number of horse halters in the bag with value of approximately $500 each. This case remains under investigation at this time.
On 09/05/2015, Macon Police Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of South Rubey Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with two male subjects involved in a verbal dispute. Police determined there was no physical altercation. Both subjects agreed for one to leave the area. No criminal charges were pursued and officers left after the situation was diffused.
On 09/05/15, a Macon Police Officer was called to assist a citizen in the 300 block of East Bourke Street. The male citizen was requesting police to give him a ride somewhere. Upon further conversation with the male subject, officers felt it was in the citizen’s best interest to temporarily detain him for safety reasons. Police later released the male subject after determining he was not an immediate threat to himself or others. The male subject then refused to obey the reasonable command of an officer by sitting on a patrol car and refusing to move. The male subject had to be physically removed from the vehicle and became physically aggressive with officer. Police arrested the black male suspect for failure to obey the reasonable command of an officer and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Macon County Jail and placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. A warrant was applied for and obtained for Charles D PRESIDENT Jr, 30 of Moberly, for resisting arrest with bond being set at $1,500 cash only.
On 09/05/2015, an officer of the Macon Police Department witnessed a vehicle stopped in middle of the intersection of Vine and Missouri Streets. Upon making contact with the driver, it was apparent the subject may need medical attention. When officers approached to assist, the officer noted the vehicle appeared to have been involved in an accident and witnessed the driver in possession of drug paraphernalia. The male driver refused to comply with officers command to roll down the window of his car so he could see if he needed medical attention. The male subject then rolled his window down a couple of inches and shouted to officers he would not be “taken alive”. The male subject then put vehicle into motion, nearly striking the officer and leaving the area in an attempted to evade officers. Police then attempted to make enforcement contact with the vehicle as it traveled southbound on Missouri Street at a high rate of speed and then traveled westbound through several city streets before coming to rest in the 1500 block of Coates Street. Officers found the driver unconscious in the vehicle with the vehicle still in gear at this time and was able to awake the suspect and place him into custody without further incident. The suspect was transported to the Macon County Jail for processing. He was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. A warrant was applied for and obtained for Andrew Scott CLOSSER, 27 of Atlanta (MO), for felony assault on a law enforcement officers, felony resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated with bond set at $45,000 cash only. Additional summonses were also issued for failure to wear a seat belt, failure to stop at stop sign (2 counts), improper passing, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, careless driving, and failure to signal. CLOSSER remains in custody at this time.
On 09/06/2015, the Macon Police Department received a report of a woman threatening a man with a knife in the 200 block of Madison Street. Upon arrival, officers determined the situation to be a domestic violence incident and no injuries were sustained by any involved party. Police took the female suspect into custody without incident. She was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later placed on 24-hour hold at the Macon County Jail. Officers applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Bonnie VILEY, a 41-year old black female of Macon, for domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon with bond being set at $9,000.00 cash only.
On 09/07/2015, police responded to a report of property damage in the 100 block of North Rubey Street. Police received a report of a black male suspect breaking an exterior window of a building. A description of the male was given as wearing a white shirt and red hat. Police arrived in the area and located a male suspect walking who matched the description and appeared to have a bleeding injury. As police approached the male suspect, he was uncooperative and would not obey the officer’s commands to stop walking. Officers attempted to physically stop the subject, who then became combative with officers. A police taser was deployed in an effort to gain compliance from the subject and safely detain him for medical attention due to the visible injury. Police were able to take the suspect into custody and call for EMS response. The suspect was then transported to Samaritan Hospital for medical treatment. While in custody, the suspect remained combative and uncooperative. Upon being released from medical care, the suspect was transported to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for William D COOPER, 35-year old black male of Macon, for felony assault on law enforcement officer, property damage, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony introducing contraband into a jail facility and damaging jail property with bond set at $25,000 cash only.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
