Harold Donald Dunaway

Donald Dunaway, 75, of Macon, MO, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Boone Hospital Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

Donald was born on January 24, 1944, in Macon County, MO, the son of Arthur and Nina (Faulkiner) Dunaway. He was united in marriage to Susan (Bennett) Rufener on September 8, 1973, in Clarence, MO. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, traveling and especially spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife, Susan of Macon, three children, Scott Rufener and his wife Brenda of Clarence, Skeet Rufener of St. Joseph, MO, and Sue Matchell and her husband Kirk of Belton, MO, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, Walter Dunaway and his wife Betty of Macon, and Clifford Dunaway and his wife Barbara of Macon, one sister, Darlene Huffman of Excello, MO, step siblings; Gene Rufener, Robert Rufener, Wendell Rufener, Lilly (Rufener) Lucas, Kathy (Rufener) Collins and other nieces, nephews, extended family and in-laws.

He was preceded in death his parents, siblings; Viola (Dunaway) Golay, Rayford Dunaway, Harlan Dunaway, Kenneth Rufener, step-siblings; Barbara (Rufener) Smith, James Rufener, Lindell Rufener, one granddaughter, Jessica Rufener and one special role model/friend Virgil Bybee.

Memorial services were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2020, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Rev. Delbert Earlywine officiating. Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday morning, at the funeral home in Macon. Inurnment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
