James “Jim” Dye

James “Jim” Dye passed away January 20, 2020 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.

James was born July 9, 1935 in Shelbyville, MO, the son of Omar J. and Nellie Wilcox Dye. He was united in marriage to Kathern Rosetta Kline on July 12, 1976 in Shelbina, MO. She survives.

He is survived by two children, Debbie Denham (Alan) of Shelbina, MO and Ronda Bowen of Shelbina, MO; one grandchild, Amanda Friesz (Brian) of Shelbina, MO; three great-grandchildren; Taylor Friesz, Braydon Friesz and Ryder Friesz; two brothers, Junior Dye of Indiana, and Eb Dye of Canton, MO; one sister, Dorothy Jane Thurston of St. Charles, MO; numerous special nieces and nephews, and one adopted child, Tracy Frye of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Riley; one brother, Herbert Dye; and three uncles, Jack, Ed and Lawrence Wilcox. 

James was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church and the American Legion. He worked at the Highway Department for 34 years, Patterson station in Shelbyville, Shelby County Road Department and was an electrician for Lucas Hardware. James enjoyed listening to country music at Branson, Lake of the Ozarks, Grandma’s Country Music, and Cannon Dam Opry, gardening, coffee with his buddies at Sinclair, metal detecting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri.  Military service followed at the cemetery. The visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home Friday, January 24, 2020. Burial was in the Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina, MO.
