NS Lose in Semi-Final Game against Schuyler County

The North Shelby Lady Raiders played Schuyler County in a semi-final game of the North Shelby Tournament on Saturday, January 25. The Lady Raiders lost 48-33.
To start the game, Schuyler County’s offense came out quickly. With just a little over four minutes left in the quarter, the Lady Rams had a 9-0 advantage.
NS put seven points on the board in the quarter. Ava Williams had four. Ceairra Kirby had two and Caroline Linberger had one.
“We had a really bad first quarter to start with. I thought we played the last two minutes pretty well. Our second quarter was fairly well. Again, we just got out- physicaled,” said North Shelby head coach Landon Daniel.
The Lady Raiders got things going in the second quarter after Lilly Cook hit a 3-pointer. NS trailed 15-11.
North Shelby’s Meg Shively scored and was fouled. Shively was successful on the three-point play. Presley Stoneburner stole the ball and put in the easy bucket giving the Lady Raiders their first lead 16-15.
Schuyler County’s Jacie Morris gave the Lady Rams the lead back after she fired in 3-pointer.
The game was tied after Linberger was good for a bucket. The Lady Rams took back their advantage ending the first half, 21-19.
NS was only able to score five points in the third quarter. SC, however, added 15 to the board giving them a 37-24 lead.
Despite North Shelby’s effort in the fourth quarter, Schuyler County’s offense continued to dominate by tallying 11 more points and advancing the to championship game.
The Lady Raiders will play South Shelby in the third-place game on Wednesday, January 29.
“South Shelby is a better team than when we played them before. We’ve just to figure out our offensive Q’s and try to get better,” said Daniel.
