Due to the Covid-19 Virus the Court House doors including the Recorder’s Office will be closed to the Public until further notice. Please see information below regarding Marriage Licenses, Searching Records, and Recording.
Marriage License Information
You can get a Marriage License by calling the Office for more information about a partial online process.
If you need a Certified Copy of Your Marriage License, for your real ID, please email or call the office. A Certified Copy of a Marriage License is $9.00.
Land Records Information
Searching Records Indexes – The Land Record Indexes are online for searching back to 1835. You can search records by visiting shelbyrecorder.com and following the directions from there. On documents newer than 1980, you can view and print documents by purchasing a timed subscription. Or you can email me at shelbyrecorder@marktwain.net to request an emailed copy of any document back to 1835 for a fee.
Recording Deeds – Deeds can be submitted for recording electronically, by mail (address above), or submitting them into the Collector of Revenue’s outside drop box located on the East Side of the Court House.
