Brazilian Man Arrested in Shelbina for Fraud

A Brazilian man was taken into custody by the Shelbina Police Department for fraud.
According to information released by the Shelbina Police Department on Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers arrested Otacilio H. H. Amaral, from Brazil, who had attempted to use the ATM at Community State Bank in Shelbina.
Amaral had manufactured credit cards with his information on the front, however a scan of the magnetic strip revealed various individuals credit information.
It is also believed Amaral had hit various other banks from Kansas City to Quincy, Illinois.
President of Community State Bank Kim Larrick said, “Everything we are seeing is appearing to be foreign transactions. As of right now, it has not affected any domestic or local person.”
This is an ongoing investigation. Amaral is being held in the Macon County jail on two counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit/Debit Device, according to Case.net. Amaral is being held without bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
