Charles E. Comfort

Charles E. Comfort of Kansas City, MO passed away on March 19, 2020, after 53½ years of marriage and just over 83 years on this earth.  He was born in Columbia, Missouri on February 15, 1937 to James Edwin Comfort and Elizabeth Meek Comfort. He graduated from Hickman High School in 1955 and earned a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He served in the Missouri National Guard for six years. 

Charles married Suanne McDaniel in 1966; they had one daughter, Kelly Lynn Comfort.

Charles worked as a test engineer at Vendo Corporation and at Fixtures Furniture and was a safety engineer for USF&G Insurance Company. Charles was an active member of Raytown Christian Church serving as church elder, sound technician, active supporter of the music ministry, treasurer of the H and H Sunday School class and in other capacities. He drove for Meals on Wheels for many years.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Lawrence Comfort.

He is survived by wife, Suanne, of Kansas City, daughter, Kelly Lynn of Houston, Texas, brother, Dr. George David Comfort of Mexico, Missouri, sister-in-law, Maria Comfort of Los Angeles, California and many nieces and nephews. His remains were donated to Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Memorial contributions may be made to Raytown Christian Church. We are grateful for his gentle spirit and servant’s heart. No date has been set for a memorial service. That will be scheduled once it is safe to travel and gather together to mourn our loss and celebrate his life.
