Richard Harvey, age 89, of Shelbyville, MO passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Salt River Community Care Center in Shelbina, MO.
Richard was born on November 30, 1930, in Epworth, MO, the son of Charles Albert and Mahala Leona Tungate Harvey. He was united in marriage to Caroline B. Hayes in January of 1958 and had three kids. He later married Reta Power Spurgeon in 1973. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1991.
He is survived by his three children, Karen Lingaurd (Tony) of Moberly, MO, Joseph (Joe) of Shelbina, MO and Mark Harvey of Shelbyville, MO, four step-children; Paula Ives of Moberly, MO, Marty Spurgeon (Jolyn) of Warsaw, MO, Doug Spurgeon of Duncan Bridge, MO and John Spurgeon (Tammy) of Lentner, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Daugherty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; six brothers, two sisters and granddaughter Brandy Ives.
Richard was a member of the Shelbyville Baptist Church, American Legion and served in the Army during the Korean War. He loved watching and reading western shows and novels, traveling and fishing. He was the Shelbyville night watchman for several years.
Due to CDC guidelines, a private graveside service was held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina, MO.
