Questions Remain about Bethel Man’s Death
By Troy Treasure
Citing the case is still an on-going investigation, Shelby County Chief Deputy Arron Frederickson told the Herald this morning that neither he, nor Deputy Chris Ehrenreich, would comment on recent social media criticism of the two officers’ actions during the May disappearance of a Bethel man.
Matthew Allen Shaw disappeared May 15 following a motor vehicle accident at Route 168 and County Rd. 255 east of Shelbyville.
Shaw was found dead two weeks later in vicinity of the accident scene.
Frederickson did confirm the Sheriff’s Department still awaits the results of an autopsy on Shaw by the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office in Columbia.
Chief Medical Examiner Carl Stacy has not responded to a request made by the Herald last week seeking information.
Ehrenreich and Frederickson are among six candidates seeking to replace retiring Sheriff Dennis Perrigo. The other candidates, in alphabetical order are: Raymond Barton, Cole Hinshaw, Matt Mefford and Brad Wilt.
Editor’s Note: During the week of July 5, Hinshaw withdrew himself from consideration for Shelby County Sheriff.
