Local Man Faces Multiple Sex Offense Charges

A Shelbina man was arrested last week on eight charges including statutory rape, sodomy, child molestation and endangering the welfare of a child.
Shelbina Marshal Jerry Fenton said the police department initially received information regarding crimes against children. A lengthy investigation took place.
On Thursday, June 30, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Joseph F. Madonia III, 30, of Shelbina was arrested for the following offenses:
Two counts of Statutory Rape 1st Degree, Sexual Intercourse with person less than 14, F-Unclassified; three counts of Sodomy 2nd degree, F-C; Child Molestation 1st degree, F-A and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, F-Unclassified.
Madonia was transported to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, where he is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Fenton said, “We would like to thank Shelby County Prosecutors, and Victim Advocates Office and the Child Center in Hannibal, for their dedication and assistance throughout this investigation.”
Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
