Julie Renee (Rubison-Baker) McEwen

Julie Renee (Rubison-Baker) McEwen

Julie Renee McEwen was born January 18, 1973 into the best family possible, The Rubisons. She was the proud daughter of John and Connie Rubison of Shelbina, who survive.

On August 1, 2020 God called her home after a valiant fight with cancer.

Julie graduated South Shelby High School in 1991. In August of that same year, she married Charles Baker, Jr. Although they went their separate ways, they remained close friends. He survives.

Julie married the love of her life, James McEwen on September 25, 2015 in a beautiful wedding on Daytona Beach where he later bought her dream home. He survives.

Julie is also survived by her three most wonderful accomplishments of her life, her children; Justin Baker and wife Katie of Shelbina, Jessica Orr and husband Michael of North Carolina, and Jordan Baker of Shelbina. Also surviving is Julie’s “Little Sunshine,” her granddaughter Jolynn Lee Baker; her siblings, Jamie Rubison and wife Mary Beth of Monroe City, Jenna Begley and husband Wes of Shelbina, and Janice Magruder and husband Phillip of Shelbina; sister in law, Tammy Haggerty and husband Tom; brother- in- laws, Tony McEwen and wife Teri, Todd McEwen, Troy McEwen and Coya all of Quincy, IL; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Julie was a very successful independent woman. She worked for KHQA-TV for 14 years before becoming the driving force for several very successful businesses with her husband and 2 partners.

Julie was a Christian by faith and loved bringing people to Jesus. Her testimony and her journey with cancer were always used to glorify God. Despite all she was going through, she always took the chance to help a lost soul find their way to God and her faith never wavered.

Julie was happiest when she was with family. They brought her the greatest joy and stood beside her every step of her journey. She was extremely proud of each of them and so honored that God allowed her to be a part of this family.

Everyone who knew her loved her. She had an incredible way to connect with anyone and everyone she met no matter who they were. She will leave a giant hole for those she leaves behind. She will be missed by many, never forgotten, and loved forever. Her legacy will live on in her wonderful children.
