Two Shelby Countians Featured in Hannibal Arts Council Exhibit

Hannibal, MO – The next exhibits at the Hannibal Arts Council include a wide variety of media, from paintings with an urban influence and mixed media works influenced by nature to canoe paddles and submitted works inspired by cows and farm life.

A special Opening Day event will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. The public is welcome to stop by and view the exhibits during this special preview. A visit to the gallery can be good for the soul and it is easy to adhere to physical distancing while enjoying great art. Also on August 15, all HAC exhibits will also be available for viewing on the Gallery page at hannibalarts.com and on in albums on the HAC Facebook page.

Newark artist Mary Jo Kattelman has art on display at the Hannibal Arts Council exhibit.

Gallery visitors, both in person and online, can view the urban flair of Hannibal artist and educator James Zimmerman, mixed media creations by Newark artist Mary Jo Kattelman, canoe paddles by Shelby County craftsman Ryan Tonnies and submitted work for an open show titled Holy Cow!.  In addition to the works filling the galleries, the Photography Channel – a digital image exhibit shown on a 55’ television – will highlight submitted digital photos following the theme of Down on the Farm along with featured images from Best of Missouri Hands member Kim Carr of New Florence.

The exhibits will run through September 12 online and at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St., and are being sponsored by the Hannibal Art Club, Rita Plowman, Michael Gaines and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

HAC gallery hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays. The HAC gallery is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays.
