Agencies Assist with Dangerous Driver
A registration violation resulted in a high-speed chase Sunday.
According to Shelbina interim City Marshal Jeff Brown, an officer with the department attempted to stop a Dodge pickup near U.S. Highway 36 and Missouri 15 in Shelbina at approximately 7:40 p.m.
The vehicle was stopped for not having a license plate on the pickup.
Brown indicated it appeared the driver was going to stop for the officer on the eastbound off-ramp. However, the motorist accelerated onto Missouri 15, nearly causing an accident. The driver proceeded northbound.
Brown believed there was radio traffic of speeds that reached 100 mph.
The SPD officer pursued the suspect vehicle into Shelbyville where a Deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office assisted and the Shelbina officer became a secondary officer to assist the Deputy.
The incident was terminated at the Shelby/Knox County line.
The investigation into the incident remains active and law enforcement are searching for a potential suspect(s).
