Shelby County fire agencies responded to two natural cover fires Saturday, March 6.
Shelbina Fire Protection District was called to 26405 Monroe Road 239, south of Shelbina off Highway MM at 12:30 p.m.
Multiple structures were in immediate danger but were not damaged.
According to Shelbina Assistant Fire Chief Allan Wilt, homeowners Justin and Jessica Fountain were burning some debris.
The fire burned approximately 15 acres of grass and several older vehicles and equipment.
SFPD was assisted by Shelby Community Fire Department, Paris Fire District, Madison-West Monroe Fire District, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Joint Communications and Shelby County E911.
SFPD and Shelby Community firefighters were called at 2:10 p.m. from the previous scene to another fire north of Lakenan, located at 7232 Hwy. T.
Landowners Rusty and Audra Wilt were burning debris as well.
Two acres of grass were burned. There were no injuries.
Wilt said firefighters were on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
