LA PLATA – North Shelby sophomore sprinter Whitney Shinn set a new school record in the 100-meter dash Monday, April 5 during competition at the La Plata Invitational.
Shinn’s time of 13.01 seconds broke North’s all-time mark set by Paige Shinn, Whitney’s sister, in 2019.
Whitney Shinn won the sprint, fellow sophomore teammate Caroline Linberger finished second.
Shinn also won the 100-meters at last week’s Monroe City Invitational.
Shinn and Linberger’s success was not limited to one event.
Linberger placed first in the long jump. Shinn was tops among triple jumpers.
Shinn and Linberger finished second and third, respectively, in the 200-meters.
The 4×200 relay team of Shinn, Zoe Barrick, Gracie vonThun and Linberger was third.
The following athletes scored points for finishing in the Top 8:
Girls – Marissa McEwen, eighth, discus.
Boys – Jeremiaha Pratt, fifth, 800-meters.
Boys – Jeremiaha Pratt, Donnie Horner, Riley Hill, Noah Greenwell, sixth, 4×200-meter relay.
