Carolyn May Fontenot, 86, of Burnet, Texas, formerly of Shelbina passed away Saturday, March 27 at Ascension Seaton Williamson Center in Round Rock, Texas.
Carolyn was born March 2, 1935 in Shelbina, the daughter of Paul and Hazel M. (Knapp) Richards. She was united in marriage to Martin C. Fontenot. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, Martin Fontenot Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif., Stephen Fontenot of South Dakota, Michael Fontenot of Burnet, Texas and Jeffrey Fontenot of Mission Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Buddy Richards of Shelbina; one sister, Rosalee Frisbee (Claude) of Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Louise Fontenot; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Brian Keith Fontenot; one brother, Paul Fontenot; and one sister-in-law, Donna Richards.
Carolyn grew up in Shelbina and graduated from Shelbina High School in 1953. After being away for several years, she returned to Shelbina to retire. She volunteered at the Shelby County Senior Center and worked at the local grocery store. She enjoyed watching all sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.
A graveside service will immediately follow at the Shelbina Cemetery starting at 2 p.m.
In honor of Carolyn, memorials may be made to the Shelby County Senior Center. Arrangements are under the direction of the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home of Shelbina.
