Josh Hunolt’s double in the bottom of the ninth inning claimed the Raiders 5-4 victory against Atlanta in the first-round of the Class 1 District 13 Tournament at La Plata on Friday, May 14.
Casey Shockley got the Raiders on the board in the first after driving in one with single.
North Shelby had a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the second. Atlanta scored three runs in the third inning. Landon Gilliland and Tucker Waddle each had RBIs.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rob Uhlmeyer grounded out, scoring one. The game tied at three.
As a team, the Raiders had nine hits. Kyle Smith and Shockley each collected three hits to lead NS.
Uhlmeyer started the game on the mound for NS. In eight innings, he allowed five hits and three runs while striking out eight and walking one.
NS vs. Bevier
The Raiders beat Bevier 12-2 on Monday, May 10.
The Raiders scored five runs in the first inning.
Josh Hunolt went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out five.
Rob Uhlmeyer relived Hunolt for two innings.
The Raiders tallied 10 hits. Uhlmeyer, Cale Stoneburner and Hunolt led NS with two hits each.
Raiders vs. Paris
North Shelby rallied back to defeat the Coyotes 9-8 on Tuesday, May 11.
Paris came out scoring seven runs in two innings.
Cale Stoneburner’s home run in the fourth put the Raiders on the board.
NS totaled six runs in the fifth and sixth.
Casey Shockley started the game on the mound for North Shelby. He went two innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one.
Stoneburner worked one inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out three and walking zero.
Kyle Smith led NS with three hits. Three players stole bases. Shockley led the way with two.
