The General Federated Woman’s Club (GFWC) of Shelbyville has raised the funds to purchase new city banners to help enhance the entrance to the town. The club motto is “Making a Difference.” One of the purposes of GFWC is city beautification. The original banners were hung approximately 10 years ago and had become worn, faded and several were missing. In the winter of 2019, the club held a soup and sandwich fund raiser for the banners. This, along with other club projects raised the funds to purchase 14 new banners and brackets. The banners are 30” x 60” polycanvas, purchased from the Zane Williams company of St. Louis. The banners were being hung by Macon Electric Cooperative on Monday, June 28.
