Jennifer Rich will begin her first year as North Shelby’s Elementary Principal.
“When the opportunity arose, I thought I was ready for a change,” Rich said.
Rich, who has spent her entire education career in the district since 1996 wants to make sure to keep North Shelby’s tradition of being a highly successful school.
Rich graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange College with a bachelor’s degree and later received her master’s from William Woods University.
She has taught every class at NS elementary except Preschool and third grade.
Rich enjoys seeing students have those light bulb moments when they make the connections.
“Teaching reading is my passion. I always enjoyed teaching reading at all grade levels,” Rich expressed.
She has held an administration degree for several years but was content and enjoy being in the classroom.
The strong core values that North Shelby has always had is something Rich hopes to keep as she holds her new title.
“I also want to make it a place that students and staff enjoy coming to,” Rich said, “I want our students and staff to be proud to be a Raider.”
Rich was hired to replace Monica Hinshaw, who retired from the district after 23 years.
