Donnie Gene King
Donnie Gene King, 87, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at his home in Shelbina.
Donnie was born April 17, 1934, in Lakenan, the son of Hugh Van and Lottie Mae (Kuntz) King. He was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Todd on November 3, 1955 in Shelbina. She survives.
He is also survived by his four children, Kathy Rash (Terry) of Shelbina, Kerry Gene King of Shelbina, Connie Raymond (Steve) of Shelbina, MO, and Kyle King (Becki) of Spotsylvania, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Rash (Jenni), Abby West (Wade), Curt King (Brianna), Ashley Collins, Savannah Ferguson, Scott King (Katie), Haley King (Richard Bonilla), Skylar King (Adrianna), Spencer King, Holly King, Halle Hinson (Matthew) and Hunter King; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald King; sister, Helen Kimbel; and granddaughters, Jamie and Jodi Lowe.
Donnie was a member of Shelbina Christian Church, Shelbina Jaycees, and a lifelong member of the NRA. He was an avid soil conservationist who took care of his farm. He loved hunting (including trips to Colorado to hunt elk), reading, Shirley’s cooking, and visiting with people. He liked attending ice cream socials and could not pass a Dairy Queen without getting a treat. Donnie loved his family and enjoyed taking vacations and family trips with them.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3 at 7 p.m. at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Visitation will be heldFriday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Shelbina. Burial will be held at Shelbina Cemetery at a later date.
