Larry W. Mayes

Larry Wayne Mayes, 74, passed away September 8, 2021 at his home in Wentzville.

Larry was born May 13, 1947 in Hannibal,  the son of Andrew C. and Arleta Faye (Wright) Mayes.  He was united in marriage to Rowena Troxel on October 4, 1969 in Clayton. She survives.

He is also survived by his two children, Christa Mayes Hayeslip (Jim DeFriese) of Lake Saint Louis, and Timothy D. Mayes (Teresa) of Troy, Ill.; four grandchildren, Tori, Joshua, and Nathan Hayeslip, and Kimberly Mayes; one step-grandson, Cory Markham (Grace); great-grandchildren, Audyn and Calliope; and his siblings, Merrilynn Christine (Tom) of Shelbyville and Andrew LaRue Mayes of Hannibal.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling by RV and classic cars. His greatest joy was getting to be a Grandpa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11,  at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.  A visitation will precede the service starting at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in the Shelbina Cemetery.
