North Shelby Brings Home Third Place at Milan Tournament

North Shelby improved to 5-2 on the season with a 2-0 win over Brashear in the Milan Tournament third place game Saturday, September 11.
Brashear’s Alexa Borgmeyer pitched the seven inning distance, striking out 15 batters on six hits. One North Shelby run was earned.
The Lady Raiders had several chances to score. NS put their leadoff batter on base in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Addy Uhlmeyer walked leading off the North Shelby sixth inning.
Whitney Snow drilled a triple over the center fielder’s outstretched glove, scoring Uhlmeyer with the game’s first run. North Shelby left the bases loaded in the fourth inning.
Chesnie Robbins led off with a hit then stole second base. Natalie Thrasher singled. Alexa Borgmeyer struck out the next two batters. Haley McNamar fielded a ground ball at third base, throwing out a runner to end the inning scoreless.
Alexa Borgmeyer and Aubrey Borgmeyer had the lone hits off North Shelby starter Natalie Thrasher in four innings of work. Thrasher struck out two batters with no walks.
Snow pitched the final three innings. Snow struck out seven batters with one walk on two hits. Snow was the winning pitcher.
Alexa Borgmeyer greeted Snow with a base hit leading off the Brashear fifth inning. A sacrifice bunt moved Borgmeyer into scoring position. Whitney Snow fanned two batters to end the inning with no runs scored.
Lacey Fisher reached base on an error with two out in the sixth inning. A fly ball back to the circle ended the inning scoreless.
Caroline Linberger walked with one out in the Raider seventh inning. Linberger scored on a two out hit for a 2-0 North Shelby lead.
Brashear mounted a seventh inning rally. Sierra Snyder doubled leading off the Tiger seventh. Paige Stutsman drew a one out walk. Whitney Snow wound up striking out the side to preserve the win.
North Shelby scored two runs on five hits. Five different Lady Raiders had a hit each.
Brashear (3-4) was blanked on four hits. Alexa Borgmeyer was 2-3 for the Lady Tigers.
Lady Raiders vs. Milan, 1-0
The Lady Raiders lost to Milan during the first round of the tournament 1-0. Milan’s Cady Pauly hit a solo home run in the first inning.
Snow went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and struck out 18.
Natalie Thrasher led NS with two hits in three at bats.
NS vs. Green City, 8-3
North Shelby defeated Green City in the second round of the tournament, 8-3.
The Lady Raiders were first to score in the first inning. Green City hit a solo homer tying up the game in the second.
NS pulled away with three runs in the third inning. The Lady Raiders scored on a stolen base during Addy Uhlmeyer’s at bat. Uhlmeyer singled, driving in one and Ceairra Kirby grounded out, scoring one run. Uhlmeyer went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Thrasher surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
