Clement “Pete” Gerard Gunn, Jr., 82, of Hannibal, formerly of Shelbina, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Luther Manor Retirement and Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Pete was born February 7, 1939, in Nebraska City, Neb., the son of Clement Gerard Sr. and Martha Elizabeth (Freeman) Gunn. He was united in marriage to Judy Ann Simmons on June 6, 1971, at the First Baptist Church in Shelbina. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Eric Christian Gunn (Kathy) of Hannibal, and Ian Edward Gunn (Katy) of Monmouth, Ill.; grandchildren, Katy Cole, Andrew Gunn, and Emily Gunn; siblings, Donald Gunn (Rosy) of Omaha, Neb., Shirley Love of Omaha, Neb. and Jim Gunn (Mary Sue) of Vernon, Texas; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement Gunn Sr. and Martha Smith; stepfather, Homer Smith; one brother, Roger Gunn; and one brother-in-law, Don Love.

Pete was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal, and formerly of the Shelbina First Baptist Church. He was an active Mason and held memberships at both Masonic Lodge #228 of Shelbina and Lodge #188 of Hannibal. Pete worked as a police officer in Shelbina and later worked for Cerro several years in the shipping department and as a security guard.  He enjoyed attending car shows, the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, trying new restaurants and foods and listening to music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services with military honors were be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina with Pastor Mark Albee officiating. Burial followed the service in Shelbina Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
