Doris Mae Calvert Lillard
Doris Mae Calvert Lillard, 80, formerly of Emden, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina.
Doris was born September 6, 1941, in Hannibal, a daughter of Joseph Hadley and Mollie Elizabeth (Sharpe) Zinn. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Calvert on April 3, 1960 in Emden. He preceded her in death September 11, 2005. She later married Bob Lillard on July 29, 2007 in Shelbyville. He survives.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Thalia Gander of Shelbyville and Teresa Bevill (Danny), of Bethel; a son, Glendel Calvert (Lori) of Kirksville; step-children, Deanna Dehner (Scott) of Ewing, Carl Lillard (Kelly) of Palmyra and Joe Lillard (Lindsey) of Dyersburg, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Brittney Kahrs (Matt), Lindsey Gander (Haden Carroll), Justin Bevill (Stacie), Jaime Bevill (Amy), Amber Calvert, Mandy Calvert, Cassie Wood (Jon), MicKayla Calvert, Tricia Calvert and Darrah Kasicki; step-grandchildren, Jonathan Dehner, Emily Dehner, Audra Dehner, Allie Lillard, Logan Lillard, Ava Lillard, Mason Lillard and Madison Lillard; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Imy Miller of Morton, Ill., Joyce Russell of East Burlington, Iowa, Dorothy Foubester (Francis) of Hannibal; sister-in-law, Wilma Hathaway of Palmyra and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, LeRoy; son-in-law, Rusty Gander; brother, Glendon Hathaway; sister, Colleen Hecht and step-son, Bill Lillard.
Doris was a member of Emden Christian Church. She had been attending Durham Baptist Church. She was a past 4-H leader, a member of Emden Grange and an Emden Memorial Gardens Cemetery board member. Doris worked at the extension office, was a school cook, and had worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau.
She loved gardening, flowers, cooking, playing the piano, and getting to be with her grandchildren. She enjoyed following her grandkids in many of their school activities. Doris liked playing cards, painting, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She was a good neighbor to all.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, at 10:30 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Visitation will be held December 9 mfrom 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Emden Memorial Gardens.
