North Shelby’s slow first half favors the Cardinals as they come away with a 66-63 win Monday, December 20.
The Raiders (5-3) went 22-for-60 from the free throw line.
“The first half we did not play well, especially when it came to taking care of the ball and finishing at the rim,” said North Shelby head coach Landon Daniel.
JD Rich led NS with 19 points. Brendyn McDaniel claimed 12 and Carson Orr had 10.
The Cardinals had a 22-16 lead at the end of the first quarter. South Shelby lead gained in the second after they added 21 points in the board. North Shelby scored 29 points in the first half
Daniel admitted he made some mistakes and switched the Raiders defense when he should have stuck with what the team is best at.
The Raiders fought back in the second half tallying 34 points.
The guys really challenged themselves to take one possession at a time and chip away from as much as a 20-point deficit and they did an excellent job at that in the second half, we just came up a bit short,” said Daniel.
I’ve got to do a better job of getting us ready for big games like this one but this is one that we definitely won’t forget and will push us every day to get a little better.”
The Raiders are scheduled to host Novinger on Tuesday, January 4.
