Raiders Big Second Half Claims Win Against Hornets

North Shelby’s second half earned them an 80-66 victory against Atlanta on Thursday, January 6.
The first half of the game would end in the Raiders favor, but only by two points.
Brendyn McDaniel led NS with 20 points. JD Rich scored 18. Noah Greenwell and Kyle Smith tallied 12.
North Shelby (6-3) trailed most of the first quarter. Rob Uhlmeyer earned a three-point play bringing the score to 7-6 in the Hornets favor.
McDaniel’s two buckets gave North Shelby its first lead of the game 10-7. Ending the first period the game was tied 11-11.
“We got a little caught off guard and didn’t do some defensive rotations like we should have, but adjusted again,” NS head coach Landon Daniel said. The guys really stepped up and we finished well in the second half.”
The second period was a battle on both sides. A team would score and then the game would be tied. Landon Bender went one-for-two from the free throw line with under 50 seconds on the clock. McDaniel splashed in a 3-pointer. NS had its biggest lead in the quarter. Bender went one-for-two from the FT line and NS led 34-32 at the half.
The Raiders took over to begin the second half scoring 27 points and didn’t hold back in the fourth.
NS at Green City
The Raiders lost at Green City, 77-64, on Friday, January 7.
McDaniel led NS with 19 points and Rob Uhlmeyer had 13.
NS was outscored 37-25 in the first half. Uhlmeyer went 5-for-6 from the FT line.
Raiders vs. Novinger
NS dominated at home against the Wildcats on Saturday, January 8. The Raiders won 88-47.
Rich led NS (7-4) with 23 points. McDaniel had 21 and Uhlmeyer claimed 11.
