Deborah Kay “Debby” Thrasher

Deborah Kay “Debby” Thrasher, 67, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Debby was born on June 7, 1954, in Edina, the daughter of Harold Lee and Phyllis Jean (O’Rourke) Gordon.  She was united in marriage to William Joseph Thrasher on September 15, 1972, in Leonard. He survives.

She is also survived by her three children, Mark Thrasher (Carrie) of Wildwood, Emily Van Weerdhuizen (Grant) of Florence, Ore. and Alex Thrasher of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Brecken Levi Thrasher of Wildwood and Mila Gray Van Weerdhuizen of Florence; siblings, Carla Oliver of Roseville, Ill., Randy Gordon (Jennifer) of Columbia, Beverly Maddex (Ernie) of Shelbyville.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Debby was a member of the Leonard Christian Church, Art Teachers Association and the PTA. She taught for the North Shelby School District as an art teacher for 20 years. Debby loved past students coming up to her and saying, “Hello, Mrs. Thrasher!” She enjoyed crafting, gardening, cooking and flowers. Debby cherished her walks with Monica Hinshaw, time with her siblings, her messaging group with her sisters and visiting with her grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Burial will follow service in Leonard Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.
