James Davis “JD” Bentley

James Davis “JD” Bentley, 87, of Clarence, Mo., passed away  Monday, March 7, 2022, at his home.

JD was born  December 24, 1934, in Shelby County, the son of Ellis James and Thelma Irene (Davis) Bentley. He was united in marriage to Lola Simms at Memphis, on May 30, 1956. She survives.

JD is also survived by his children, Jerry Bentley (Laurie) of Columbia, Mike Bentley (Deana) of Clarence, Pat Bentley of Clarence and Karen Ellyson (George) of Clarence; 11 grandchildren, Lucas Bentley, Amanda Bentley, Travis Bentley, Natalea Bentley, Holly Bentley, Josh Bentley, Jared Bentley, Curtis Ellyson (Hilary), Courtney Ellyson Nanneman (Tyler), Adam Ellyson and Aimee Ellyson; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Wood; and daughter-in-law, Susan Bentley.

JD loved to work. He owned and operated Paris Asphalt for over 30 years. He loved his dog who rode around in his truck with him. JD enjoyed visits from his kids, grandchildren, family and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 12, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence at a later date.
