Dennis Clemont Culler

Dennis Clemont Culler

Dennis Clemont Culler passed away  Monday, May 2, 2022 at Quincy Blessing Hospital.

Dennis was born  November 24, 1947, in Kirksville, the son of John Virgil Culler who died on April 16, 2005 and Pauline Evans (Bevill) Culler who passed away June 5, 1963. He was the youngest of three children.  On June 29, 1974, he was united in marriage to Renea Edna Christoffer who survives of the home

Dennis was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He attended Bethel Elementary and High School; graduating from North Shelby High School in 1965. Soon after, he was drafted into the United States Army and served with “A” Battery, 2ndbattalion 28th artillery in Germany during Vietnam.  Once he returned home, he continued working at Central Stone Quarry and began farming with his Dad until his last days.

Serving his country, his church, and his community made him the man he was and he did so in the most humble way. Dennis was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church serving in various roles.  Over the years, he was on the North Shelby school board, involved with the Bethel Harvest Fest and Sheep Festivals, the Bethel Community School House, and supported the Bethel Colony activities.  He had a passion for music and shared his talents at church and at many local events.  He instilled this love of music in his family and led by example in faith, love, and keeping a light heart.

Dennis was an avid St Louis Cardinal baseball fan and the love of the game was a huge part of the Culler family.  He missed very few sporting events, band concerts, or activities of his children.  He was a man of few words, but most of those words when spoken were profound in parenting and in life.

He is survived by his wife, Renea of 47 years; four children: Audrey Nicole (JJ) Munro, Jamie Brooke (Chad) Schoch, Vance LaRue (Cindy) Culler and Courtney Dane (Mary) Culler;  grandchildren: Airman Clark Schoch, Tori Schoch, Ayden Munro, Marin Munro, Morgan Munro, Brooklyn Culler, Mason, Culler, and Rocket Culler.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Rose CullerMiles on May 31st, 2001 and brother, Lowry Gale Culler on July 1st, 2019.  In addition to his grandparents, Alva & Cora Schnaufer Culler and Harold & Minnie Case Bevill, Dennis was also preceded in death by McKenna Lynn Munro (granddaughter), Troy Culler (nephew), Terence Culler (great-nephew), and Karen Culler (sister-in-law).

Visitation is on Friday, May 6th from 5-8PM at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 7th at 10AM at the funeral home, followed by burial with full military honors in the Bethel Zion Cemetery, west of Bethel, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be sent to Bethel Zion Cemetery, Bethel United Methodist Church, or Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
