The North Shelby Raiders lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat to Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson] on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
The game was tied at two with Platte Valley batting in the top of the sixth when Robert Uhlmeyer induced Lane Acklin to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Platte Valley pitchers struck out nine, while the Raiders sat down four.
In the top of the fourth inning, Platte Valley Justin Miller grounded out, scoring one run.
Memphis Bliley led things off on the hill for Platte Valley. The hurler surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out nine.
Uhlmeyer was on the mound for NS. Uhlmeyer went six and a third innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out four. Kyle Smith threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Landon Bender led North Shelby with two hits in three at bats.
Miller went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Platte Valley in hits.
