Shelbina Man Arrested for Alleged Sex Crimes

A Shelbina man was arrested Saturday, August 27, 2022, for allegedly committed multiple sex crimes.
According to information released by Shelbina Police Department, on August 13, the SPD received a report of an incident involving sex crime(s) with a child victim which occurred within the City of Shelbina.
Officer(s) of the Shelbina Police Department began an investigation into the allegations.
As a result of the investigation probable cause was developed and a suspect was identified as Shawn Lunz, 33, of Shelbina.
The information was submitted to the Shelby County Prosecutor and formal charges were filed.
Shelby County Associate Circuit Judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Lunz charging him in case No. 22SB-CR00154 with an Unclassified Felony of Sodomy in the First Degree and Child Molestation in the Third Degree.
Officers with SPD with the assistance of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lunz in rural Shelby County.
Lunz is currently incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
Lunz is scheduled for a bond reduction hearing Friday, September 2, at 10 a.m. with Shelby County Associate Judge Mike Greenwell.
The SPD was assisted in the investigation by the Missouri Department of Children’s Services, Shelby County Victim Advocate and the Child Advocacy Center in Hannibal.
