Joan Hilber Foley, 95, of Burlington, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington.
Born June 28, 1927, in Shelbyville, MO. she was the daughter of William Milford and Maude Howerton Hilber. On September 14, 1947, she married Milton Keith Foley in Quincy, Ill. He died on June 6, 2019.
Joan was a homemaker and did secretarial work at Benner Tea Co. and Yetter Oil Co.
She was a very active member of Parkside Baptist Church. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter HU, Des Moines County Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Civic Music, Kings Daughters, Burlington Hospital Auxiliary, Iowa Study Club, Prospect Hill PTA, Room Mother, and a Sunday School teacher. She was always proud to be a farm girl.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue (Dwight) Foley Mulch of Burlington, Kate (Christian) Foley-Beining of Healdsburg, Calif.; one son, Mark (Michelle) Foley of Grimes, Iowa; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 72 years, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Hilber.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Capitol Theater Foundation and the Des Moines County Historical Society.
