Jimmie Wayne (Jim) Ratliff, 73, of Shelbyville, Mo., passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at approximately 12:18 am at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 28, 1949, in Shelbyville, the son of Wayne Elwood and Margaret Matilda (Blaise) Ratliff. On June 17, 1973, he was united in marriage to Pamela Kay Kemp. She survives.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Lara Beth Jones and her husband Billy Jo (B.J.) of Leonard; one son, Scott Carson Ratliff and his wife, Lauren of Weldon Spring; five grandchildren, Emme Jo Jones and Ada Beth Jones, Leonard; and Peyton Everly Ratliff, Gage Emerson Ratliff and Crew Carson Ratliff, Weldon Spring. Jim is also survived by three sisters, Mary Fern Wilson, Hannibal; Nina Elizabeth Wallace (Bert), Shelbina; Peggy Sue Gregory (Ron), Shelbina; two brothers, Roy Lee (Buddy) Ratliff (Marti), Shelbina; Danny Ernest Ratliff (Linda), Shelbina; and several nieces nephews and cousins.
Jim was a Christian by faith and attended Shelbina Christian Church. He was a 1967 graduate of North Shelby High School in Shelbyville. After graduation, he was drafted in the US Army and served his country for two years. Jim was a longtime employee of Forman’s Market in Shelbyville. He worked for a time for Central Stone as well as Moorman’s Manufacturing Co. His last working years before retirement were at Cerro Copper Flow in Shelbina.
Jim loved spending time in his woodworking shop making crafts or items out of wood for his family and friends. There wasn’t much he couldn’t make to perfection. Jim loved working in the yard. His grandkids were his greatest joy.
A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, November 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shelbina Christian Church Family Life Center.
