The North Shelby Lady Raiders earned a 55-52 win at Atlanta on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
NS was led by Ava Williams with 23 points.
Natalie Thrasher earned 12 and Caroline Linberger had 11.
A slow first quarter for the Lady Raider’s allowed the Lady Hornets to have a 17-15 lead. Kyley Mayers splashed in a three just a minute into the game. Mayers went 2-for-2 from the charity line.
Atlanta had a 5-0 lead after a minute and a half into the game.
Mayers led Atlanta with 14 points.
The Lady Raiders (9-1) tallied 18 points in the second period which allowed them to hold a 35-30 at the half.
Thrasher hit a 3-pointer just 20 seconds into the quarter. Linberger followed with a bucket. Ceairra Kirby went 2-for-2 at the line. Meg Shively was good for a bucket just 40 seconds later. NS held a 21-17 lead with 5:20 on the clock.
Atlanta scored back-to-back giving them a one-point lead. Linberger hit a three giving NS back the lead. Thrasher went 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Williams claimed last seven points in the first half.
Williams hit a bucket just seconds into the third period. NS tallied 11 points in the period. They led 46-43.
With 1:55 left in the game NS was up 52-50 thanks to William’s bucket. The game would tie after Sylvre Christensen hit a bucket. Linberger was good for the bucket giving NS a two-point lead. Kirby was the last one to score with 2.6 seconds left in the game and she went 1-for-2 from the charity line.
