Patricia Jean Smoot

Patricia Jean Smoot,  90, of Shelbina, Mo., passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Shelbina Villa.

Patricia was born February 11, 1932, in Rutledge, Mo., the daughter of Cecil and Lucile (Twitchell) Morrison. She was united in marriage to Marion Leon Smoot on April 15, 1951, in Shelbina. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2017.

She is survived by three sons; Randall Smoot and wife, Barbara of Leonard, David Smoot and wife, Dianne of Kirksville and Greg Smoot and wife, Linda of La Plata, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Daniel Smoot and wife, Jessica, Adam Smoot and wife, Anna, Lori Beth Jester and husband Bill, Jason Smoot and wife, Andrea, Brett Smoot and wife Laura, Jeremy Smoot and wife, Danielle, and Lindsey Tiedemann and husband, Josh; 17 great-grandchildren, Logan, Weston and Garrett Jester, Natalie, Scarlet, Layla, Brody, London, Bauer, Zane, Beau, Colton, Scotland and Mac Smoot and Jaydon, Parker and Holden Tiedemann; two sisters-in-law, Alma Jo Lair and Janis Morrison.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant granddaughter, Jenny Sue Smoot; and two brothers, Jim Morrison and Dick Morrison.

Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbina. She was previously a long time member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Pat was a farmer’s wife and helped Marion on the farm for many years. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and traveling. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 8, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Bethel Zion Cemetery near Bethel.
