In 1999 Jenna Begley began working in healthcare. She has drivenback and forth to Columbia for 10 years and started to get burnt out.
“In healthcare it is hard to find people who are willing to take care of people and I would take that home and take it to heart every day. It was really hurting me,” said Begley.
Jenna went into Times Remembered, previously owned by Linda Fahle, to pay for some flowers she purchased for a funeral.
Begley said, out of the blue Linda asked, “Don’t you get sick of driving to Columbia every day?,” and Jenna responded she did.
A week prior Jenna had gotten a tattoo on her forearm in her late sister, Julie’s, handwriting that said, “Take the Journey.”
Begley said Linda asked, “Why don’t you just buy this place?”
“I looked down and saw that tattoo and I thought, oh my gosh, I might actually do this,” Jenna said.
She went home and talked to her husband, Wes, and he said, “I think you should.”
Begley said she didn’t want to buy it if she was going to be terrible at it, so she worked with Linda for around four weeks and loved it.
Begley said Linda told her, “You’re a natural at this.”
The business was purchased in early December of 2022 and moved to 112 West Walnut Street (previously The Chicken Coop) in Shelbina.
“It truly was a leap of faith. It came across at the right time,” said Begley. “It was a God thing. My family can work here with me. After losing Julie, it was just a good thing for our family to be together. It just made sense.”
Times Remembered Inspired by Julie offers all the same services that Fahle did, as far as tuxedos, flower arrangements, angels, etc.
Coming from the healthcare field and hospice, Begley feels she can understand the feelings of losing someone and can relate more to the customers she will serve at times.
“I hope I can still help people, but just in a different way now,” said Jenna.
