  North Shelby lost after the Putnam County Midgets came back in the second half to earn the consolation plaque, 62-59, in the La Plata Tournament on Friday, February 3, 2023.

  The Raiders were led by Brendyn McDaniel with 25 points. JD Rich tallied 14.

  NS (9-12) scored 20 points in the first quarter.

  McDaniel and Rich each scored seven points.

  North Shelby had back-to-back steals to start the game. They jumped out to a 8-2 lead.

  The Raiders held a 20-10 lead at the end of the quarter.

   In the second period the Raiders tallied 16 points. Daniel and McDaniel scored four points. Clay Cook hit a 3-pointer.

  Putnam only scored 11 points. At halftime, North Shelby led 38-21.

  During the third period, the Raiders earned 15 points. The Midgets put in 18 points. NS had a 53-39 advantage.

  The Raiders only put in six points in the final period. With 3:36 on the clock, PC only trailed 57-56.

  Putnam County took its first lead of the game with three minutes on the clock.

  NS took a one-point lead after McDaniel went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.

  NS didn’t score another point in the game.

Scotland County

  The Raiders defeated Scotland County Tigers on Thursday, February 2, 2023, to advance to the consolation finals in the La Plata Tournament. North Shelby won 63-47.

  The Raiders (9-11) were led by Jade Daniel with 21 points. Gabe Orr had 14, while JD Rich tallied 12 and Brendyn McDaniel scored 11 points.

  NS was outscored in the first quarter 16-12. Daniel led NS with six points. Orr had four and McDaniel earned two.

  NS had a great second period scoring 21 points. Daniel, McDaniel and Rich each scored six points. Cole Browning hit a three-pointer. NS held a 33-28 lead at halftime.

  Scotland County was outscored 13-2 in the third period. The Raiders and Tigers each scored 17 points to end the game.

  The Raiders went 9-for-12 from the charity line. Daniel went 3-for-3 and Rich went 5-for-7 from the line.

  Raiders vs. Atlanta

  North Shelby lost to state ranked Atlanta in the first round of the La Plata Tournament on Tuesday, January 31. Atlanta defeated the Raiders 64-44.

  The Raiders (8-11) were led by JD Rich with 20 points and Jade Daniel with 11.
