Shelbyville Adults Charged with Alleged Domestic Assault

Two Shelbyville individuals have been charged with domestic assault, third degree. Lenny E. Schoonover, 36 and Ruth P. Creech, 34, were arrested by Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
According to the Probable Cause statement filed August 5, 2022, against Schoonover, between July 2021 and March 2022, Schoonover, allegedly caused physical pain to three domestic victims. Schoonover allegedly hit one victim in the head with a phone and punched the victim in the head multiples times on several occasions.
The PC statement states that Schoonover allegedly pushed the second alleged victim’s head into a wall and hit the victim on the head with a phone. Schoonover allegedly slapped in the victim in the face with open and closed fist. On one occasion Schoonover, while spanking the victim caused bruising.
According to the probable cause statement, between July 2021 and March 2022, Schoonover allegedly caused physical pain to a third alleged victim by grabbing the victim’s hair and throwing the victim into a wall and kicking the victim.
Schoonover is being charged in 23SB-CR00039 with three felony counts of domestic assault, third degree, by Shelby County Prosecutor Jordan Force.
Schoonover is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
A bond reduction hearing was held on February 17 in front of Associate Judge Mike Greenwell. Schoonovers appeared virtually and a bond modification was denied as the court felt that Schoonover is a danger to the community.
Schoonover is scheduled for a bond reduction hearing for March 3, at 10:00 a.m. in front of Judge Greenwell.
The PC statement filed against Ruth P. Creech on August 5, 2022, states between July 2021 and March 2022, Creech, allegedly caused physical pain to a domestic victim by pushing the victim’s head into a wall on multiple occasions. The document also states that Creech allegedly threw a gate at the victim, hitting the victim.
Creech is being charged with 23SB-CR00040 with one felony count of domestic assault, third degree, by Shelby County Prosecutor Jordan Force.
Creech was held in the Shelby County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. According to court documents, a bond reduction hearing was held on Friday, February 17. The bond was modified to an OR bond by Shelby County Associate Judge Mike Greenwell. Creech’s conditions are to be supervised by CCS, no drugs/alcohol, random drug testing and repath high level, follow the Children’s Division safety plan and have no contact with the alleged victim.
Creech’s next court date is March 3, 2023, at 10 a.m.
The incidents were reported during a CAC Interview at the Child Center in Hannibal Missouri while Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Personnel and Child Protection Services were present.
