North Shelby took on the South Shelby Cardinals on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The Cardinals beat NS (0-3) 14-5.
South Shelby got on the board in the first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, North Shelby tied things up at one when Cade Fallert singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Cardinals pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning.
In the third PJ Schmidt homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, Zaiden Wood homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, and an error scored two runs for SS.
Lucas Magruder was credited with the victory for South Shelby. The righty went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out 11. Wood threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Fallert led things off on the mound for North Shelby. The righty lasted three innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out four. Kaden Hunolt and Keaton Roan entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
North Shelby racked up seven hits in the game. Fallert and Casey Shockley all collected multiple hits for the Raiders. Fallert led NS with three hits in four at bats.
South Shelby racked up 11 hits. Magruder, Jayden Baker and Wood each racked up multiple hits for the Cardinals. Magruder went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead South Shelby in hits.
