The members of the Omicron Pi Chapter of Delta Theta Tau have been brainstorming at their meetings on how they can positively impact the communities in which they live. At the meeting on March 27, they filled baskets full of soaps, shampoos, lotions, nail polish, deodorants, puzzle books, journals, pens and Bibles, then delivered these baskets to the Salt River Nursing Home and the Shelbina Villa just in time for the Easter holiday! This was such a fun project for them to complete and to see the smiles on the faces of staff and residents brought them pure joy!
They have also seen the need for donations to help other organizations in our area. At this time the Deltas have decided to make a $500 donation to the Teen Center to help them in their process of basement remediation.
And each year the sorority donates to the After Prom parties for both North Shelby and South Shelby High Schools.
They have several community events coming up that they are excited to announce!
On Sunday, April 30, the 8th Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance will be held at North Shelby High School gymnasium. This event is open to girls of any age and their dad or other special guest. It will begin at 2:50 p.m. with light refreshments of cookies and punch being served. This is a free will donation event with the monies going to The National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia. Please RSVP to Katie Wiley by April 23.
Next on the calendar is a Red Cross Blood Drive to be held on June 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bethel Christian Church. Please make an appointment if you are able to donate on this day!
In July the Omicron Pi Chapter of Delta Theta Tau will host the Miss Old Settlers Queen Contest. This contest is open to all girls residing in Shelby County ages 15-18. Be on the lookout for contact information about this!
