MSHP Troop B Report
A Leonard man was in a fatal accident on Route H, two miles south of Leonard, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:00 p.m.
According to the report, Johnny H Cook, 48, was southbound driving a 2021 Polaris UTV when he traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.
Cook was pronounced deceased at 11:49 p.m. by Shelby County Corner Corey Eagan at the scene. He was transported to Greening Eagan and Hayes Funeral Home.
He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The UTV was totaled and was not insured.
The MSHP was assisted by Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Shelby Community Fire Department and Shelbyville First Responders.
