The Shelbyville Board of Alderman met in regular session on Monday, August 7, 2023 at city office at 6 p.m. Mayor Mike Vanskike was absent. Present were Alderman Jerry Myers who filled in as mayor protem, Alderman Brad Willey, Rob Southers and Gene Boyles. Gina Mesmer, Randy Shores and Nathan Minear.
Alderman Myers opened the tax levy hearing at 6:05 p.m. No member of the public attended. Alderman Myers closed the tax levy hearing.
Alderman Myers opened the regular meeting.
Alderman Boyles made a motion a adopt the tax levy at the highest amount allowed by the state which is 1.30 per $100.00 assessed value. Alderman Willey seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Alderman Willey made a motion to approve the July 5 minutes and Alderman Boyles seconded the motion. Alderman Willey made a motion to approve the July 11 minutes and Alderman Southers seconded. Motion passed.
Alderman Willey made a motion to approve the bills and Alderman Southers seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The board reviewed the financial statement for Jan-June 30, 2023. Alderman Boyles approved the financial statement for the publication and Alderman Southers seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The board discussed a letter to be received from city attorney Steve Raymond on unlicensed vehicles.
Randy and Nathan gave the board an update on the sewer line replacement on Hwy 15. We are waiting on the manhole to be made.
Nathan asked the board for a ball hitch to put on the white city truck. All board members agreed to purchase a hitch.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 5 at 6 p.m.
Alderman Southers made a motion to adjourn at 6:22 and Alderman Boyles seconded the motion.
