The North Shelby Tournament was held Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Lady Raiders vs. Mark Twain
NS lost to Mark Twain in a 13-10 battle in the first round of the tournament.
Emme Jones collected three hits in three at bats, and doubled in the third inning, tripled in the same inning and singled in the first.
The Lady Raiders collected five hits and Mark Twain had nine.
In the bottom of the first inning, NS went back into the lead after Bella Donath singled, Jones singled and Adrien Wiley lined out, each scoring one run.
Andi Belt’s walked allowed the Lady Raiders to add a run in the second inning, 4-1.
The Lady Tigers flipped the game in the top of the third, scoring 12 runs on seven hits to take a 13-4 lead.
North Shelby scored six runs on three hits in the bottom the inning.
Harper Copenhaver took the loss for NS. The pitcher went two innings, allowing nine hits on six hits, striking out two and walking three.
NS vs. Linn Co.
The second round game of the tournament for North Shelby was easy as they earned an 11-0 victory over Linn Co.
NS got on the board in the second inning after Emme Jones singled, Emma Christine grounded out, each scoring one run.
The Lady Raiders added to their lead in the bottom the third after Andi Belt singled, scoring a run, Belt scored after tagging up and Jones singled, scoring two runs.
North Shelby scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Belt grounded out, earning one run, Harper Copenhaver singled, scoring one run, Marissa McEwen tripled, scoring one run, Riley Stoneburner, doubled, scoring a run and Jones drew a walk, earning a run.
Addy Uhlmeyer earned the win for the Lady Raiders. She allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
As a team, NS collected 11 hits.
North Shelby vs. Bevier
The Lady Raiders (6-3-2) earned consolation with a 10-0 win over Bevier.
NS got on the board in the first inning after Harper Copenhaver hit a solo inside the park home run.
The Lady Raiders added to their lead in the bottom of the second after an error by the Lady Wildcats and Emma Christine singled.
After Riley Stoneburner doubled, Emme Jones and Adrien Wiley, each singled, NS added to their lead in the third.
Addy Uhlmeyer earned the win for North Shelby as she only gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings. She struck out seven and walked none.
The Lady Raiders tallied 12 hits in the game. Jones went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead NS. Christine, Wiley, Jones and Copenhaver each drove in two runs for the team. The team didn’t committ a single error in the game.
