North Shelby senior Riley Stoneburner was a powerhouse in helping the Lady Raiders defeat Harrisburg on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 14-3.
Stoneburner hit a homerun in the second inning and then drove one over centerfield in the sixth inning earning a grand slam.
Harrisburg was first to score in the game in the first inning. NS (8-4-2) took a 2-1 lead after Emme Jones scored on a wild pitch and Addy Uhlmeyer’s grounder to shortstop brought in Emma Christine. Stoneburner’s solo home run to centerfield in the second gave NS a 3-1 advantage.
Six more Lady Raider runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 1403. Uhlmeyer singled, scoring one run, Bella Donath drew a walk, bringing in a run and Stoneburner hit a grand slam.
Uhlmeyer earned the win for NS. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking eight.
North Shelby tallied 14 hits against Harrisburg. Marissa McEwen and Donath each collected multiple hits. Uhlmeyer and Donath each stole two bases. As a team, six bases were stolen. Jones and Stoneburner each earned one.
