Lady Raiders Defeat Atlanta, Scotland, Fall at Salisbury

The Lady Raiders took down Atlanta and Scotland last week but lost at Salisbury.
NS at Atlanta
North Shelby beat the Lady Hornets, 14-2 on Monday, October 2, 2023.
Nortth Shelby was first to get on the board in the first inning after Emme Jones doubled, scoring one run.
The Lady Raiders scored six runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Marissa McEwen and Emelia Flores each singled, scoring a run. Bella Donath singled, bringing in two runs and Jones was walked scoring a run.
Addy Uhlmeyer’s inside-the-park home run added to the Lady Raiders lead in the fourth inning.
North Shelby (12-6-2) scored five runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Andi Belt, doubled, bringing in two runs. A steal of home added to North Shelby’s lead and Riley Stoneburner tripled, scoring one run.
Uhlmeyer earned the win for North Shelby, allowing two hits over three scoreless innings. She struck out seven and walked zero.
The Lady Raiders earned 19 hits against Atlanta. Belt, Donath and McEwen each claimed three hits. Flores, Jones, Uhlmeyer and Adrien Wiley collected two hits in the game. Harper Copenhaver and Stoneburner each had one.
Lady Raiders vs. Scotland County
North Shelby (13-6-2) defeated the Lady Tigers, 11-0 in five innings on Tuesday, October 3.
Belt scored on a steal of home while McEwen was batting. McEwen advanced to first after she was hit by a pitch. North Shelby led 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
In the bottom of the third inning, Uhlmeyer scored after a steal of home. A double by Flores extended North Shelby’s advantage to 4-0 after Stoneburner and McEwen scored.
Uhlmeyer’s line drive to leftfield brought in Jones in the fourth inning. Copenhaver singled and advanced to second after an error by a Lady Tiger. Uhlmeyer scored on the same error. North Shelby held a 6-0 lead. Two more runs were added to North Shelby’s lead to finish out the inning.
Copenhaver singled on a ground ball to second to bring Jones home. Belt advanced to third and McEwen’s fly ball to center brought in Belt and Copenhaver which ended the game.
Uhlmeyer earned the win for North Shelby. She surrendered seven hits and through five scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Four seniors were recognized with their parents following the game. Softball players, Belt, McEwen and Stoneburner and manager, Alexa Mesmer.
North Shelby at Salisbury
The Lady Raiders lost at Salisbury, 3-1 on Wednesday, October 4.
Salisbury took a 1-0 lead after a triple to rightfield. The Lady Panthers lead extended in the top of the first after a single to centerfield which brought in two more runs.
Copenhaver was walked in the bottom of the second. McEwen’s single on a line drive allowing Copenhaver to advance to third.
North Shelby got on the board after Copenhaver scored after stealing home. The Lady Panthers held a 3-1 lead the rest of the game.
The Lady Raiders collected eight hits in the game. Copenhaver, Jones and McEwen each had two hits. Belt and Bella Donath added one hit each.
The pitching was strong on both teams. Salisbury struck out five while North Shelby’s Uhlmeyer struck out four. Uhlmeyer only walked two.
