The North Shelby Raiders hosted the Orrick Bearcats in a pink out game Friday, October 13, 2023. The Raiders kept their win streak alive with an impressive final score, 64-18.
The Raiders started off the game getting six points on their opening possession, a quick indicator of how the game would go. Jade Daniel got his first touchdown of the night, making the score 6-0 early.
After lots of defensive pressure from North Shelby and good defensive stops by Orrick, the game remained 6-0 until under a minute left in the first quarter. A tough catch by Gannon Bowen kept the Raiders moving, and a solid run by Daniel got the Raiders into the end zone once again. With the extra two from Gabe Orr, the Raiders led 14-0.
North Shelby found some fire on the defensive end in the second quarter. A big-time sack by Riley Greening resulted in a loss of yards and pushed the Bearcats back.
Another big defensive play, this time with an interception from Daniel, got the Raiders the ball back near the end zone. Daniel would go ahead and get his third touchdown of the night, with a tough run up the middle, putting the Raiders up 20-0.
Orrick marched its way down the field, and with a quick pass play to the left side, the Bearcats would get their first points of the night. With a two-point stop by the Raider defense, the score was now 20-6.
After a couple broken tackles, Bowen would bring NS near the end zone. Once again, Daniel would get a touchdown for NS on a run through the Orrick defense. Bowen would get the extra two and NS would stay in the lead with a score of 28-6.
With a quarterback keeper, Orrick scored their second touchdown of the night. A batted down pass by Jay Miles on the two-point attempt made the score 28-12.
Orrick started the second half out with some early momentum. The Bearcats made their way down the field, and completed a touchdown pass over top of the Raider defense, making the score 28-18.
Looking to answer, Daniel had a 55-yard run to get his fifth touchdown of the night. Cole Browning ran the ball to get NS the extra two, with the score now 36-18. The Raiders had another big-time play for a loss of yards, this time the tackle made by Sam Schwanke.
North Shelby made their way into the end zone, yet another time, this time from a breakaway run by Bowen. Daniel completed an easy pass to Orr for two more, putting the Raiders up, 44-18.
The Raiders were quick to score again with a pick-six play by Bowen, his second touchdown of the night. Aden Johnston had a catch to get North Shelby the extra two, and they led 52-18.
The Raiders finished out an impressive game with great efforts on the offensive and defensive side in the fourth quarter. North Shelby’s defense held the Bearcats to zero points, while the offense kept the ball moving and scored two more times. Gabe Orr had a quick run for a touchdown making it 58-18. North Shelby switched the lineup up for the end of the game, rotating in lots of new players.
Bo Bacon had a quarterback keeper touchdown for the last points of the game, making the score 64-18.
North Shelby will host Southwest Livingston on Friday, October 20, 2023 for their last regular season game of the year. Senior night will begin around 6:40 p.m. and kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
